National Mustard Day

Summertime is prime grilling season. Whether you fancy chicken, brats or classic hot dogs, we can all agree that there is one flavor that gives all of these entrees a little more zing – mustard!

This Saturday, August 5, mustard lovers from near and far can celebrate their favorite condiment by participating in National Mustard Day. You have the choice of celebrating informally by whispering sweet nothings to your mustard bottle or by heading to the National Mustard Museum in Middleton, Wisconsin, for their annual event.

For the past seven years, the National Mustard Museum has hosted the event to help honor the King of Condiments and create the World’s Largest Mustard Challenge. The full day event features activities for the whole family including, music, games and entertainment complete with hot dogs, brats and free mustard samplings. (Did you know that there are over 20 different varieties?)

Proceeds from the day’s events go towards a local charity, this year the goal is to help raise awareness of the need for pediatric cancer research. The National Mustard Museum has joined forces with French’s Mustard and No More Kids with Cancer to support the Mustard Challenge. The challenge encourages participants to film themselves eating a spoonful of mustard, sharing the video with their friends on social media and donating to mustardchallenge.com. All of the donations will go towards pediatric cancer research and be matched by French’s.

There you have it! If you were looking for weekend plans, why not take a road trip to Middleton? Enjoy a full day event that supports a worthy cause. How do you plan to celebrate the famous yellow condiment? Please tell us in the comments below.

Happy National Mustard Day from Lions Pride!
