Ready, aim, fire! We know it’s hard to believe, but we are only days away from thisTichigan Lions week’s 11th Annual Pride Shoot, happening once again at Milford Hills Hunt Club in Johnson Creek.

Sporting clays shooting is often called “golf with a shotgun,” but unlike golf, shooting sporting clays is as fun for beginners as it is for seasoned experts (we’re sure golfers would agree!)

Our sporting clays fundraiser is our most popular event that takes place on the second weekend in June. Both Lions and non-Lions come together to enjoy a day on the course in the beautiful rolling hills of Southern Wisconsin to support Lions Pride.

The day consists of an early breakfast followed by a challenging 22-round course with games and door prizes. After shooters have finished the course, they celebrate with beer, auction and delicious supper. The Pride Shoot is one of the most, unique and successful fundraisers that takes place for our organization.

Although we still have a lot of work ahead of us, we are eagerly anticipating Saturday’s arrival. We are always reminded of Dewey’s spirit, but it’s even more present this time of year as he so looked forward to the annual shoot. We feel we have a personal responsibility to make the upcoming event even more rewarding than the last.

We’d like to thank all of our donors, sponsors and volunteers for all of your support – both leading up to, during and after the shoot. We know firsthand that it takes a village to create and implement a successful event, and the Pride Shoot would not be what it is without all of your help.

See you Saturday!

Pack your bags, grab your golf clubs and get ready to celebrate your commitment to Where Theres a NeedLionism. Today marks the start of the 2018 Wisconsin Lions State Convention, and we’re excited to get reacquainted with our friends in Lake Geneva at the Grand Geneva.

The convention unofficially starts this morning at 9 am with a four-person scramble at The Brute Golf Course. The Magnificent Brute is considered one of the most challenging layouts within the Midwest and one of Wisconsin’s best courses. We’re looking forward to seeing how our groups compete. At 3 pm, convention registration will take place, and hospitality will run from 7 pm to 10 pm in the Evergreen. (Don’t forget to dress as your favorite futuristic character!)

The learning opportunities will get started at 9 am with meetings and informational seminars. At 11:30 am, we will get to listen to motivational speaker Michael Schnitzka as he shares his experience as a world record-holding athlete and adventurer extraordinaire. He’ll act as a guide through his journey of a lifetime while encouraging all of us to create our own.

Saturday starts bright and early! After breakfast, you will be able to visit exhibitors and  take part is a service project. District meetings will begin at 9 am, followed by seminars about the 2018 LCI Convention, social media and diabetes. Our keynote luncheon speech will come from Past President J. Frank Moore who will share his inspiring story. On Saturday evening, hospitality and banquet will wrap up the convention. We’re in for an extra special treat as our most talented Lions will be showing off their skills in an exclusive edition of “MD27’s Got Talent.” See the entire convention schedule here.

We have another fun weekend ahead of us filled with outstanding information and even better company. Lions Pride would like to extend a special note of gratitude to the Watertown Lions Club for hosting this event. We always enjoy weekends away with friends. What are you most looking forward to at the convention? Let us know in the comments below.

See you in Lake Geneva!

We’re on the road again – this time, we’re Where Theres a Needheaded to Western Wisconsin for the 2017 State Lions Convention, hosted by the La Crosse and Onalaska Lions, at the La Crosse Convention Center.

This year’s convention will be a bit different than past events as there are many changes and several fun events in store. Our hosts plan to infuse our Centennial Celebration with a little local history as well as other fun additions, such as the Lions Centennial Torch, and special guests.

The fun kicks off today with a golf tournament at Forest Hills, tours of the St. Rose Chapel, Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Dahl Auto Museum as well as the first hospitality night.

We’ll hit the ground running on Friday as the morning begins with board meetings and myLCI Training. We’ll then have our pick of informative seminars throughout the day. The day will end with business meeting awards, a community ice cream social with Ranison Ice Cream Shop and second hospitality night.

Saturday will begin with a Strides Walk, eyeglass sorting and third block of seminars. District meetings will commence at 10:30 am, followed by a noon luncheon and last block of seminars. The afternoon will continue with a Centennial Celebration, WLF Annual Meeting (with a special award presentation); followed by voting, our last hospitality night and anniversary ball.

For those planning to spend the night, Sunday will begin with a church service, brunch cruise and tour of the Historic Hixon House Museum. There is truly something for everyone this convention weekend.

We’re looking forward to another fun weekend filled with lots of great information and even better company. Be sure to stop and see the Lions Pride table when visiting the exhibitor hall to pick up a little gift from us. See you in La Crosse!
